Former first daughter Ashley Biden has filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years, according to reports published this week.
The 44-year-old daughter of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden submitted the legal filing recently. The Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to report the news.
On the same day she filed for divorce, Biden posted an Instagram story that included the song “Freedom” by Beyoncé.
The short video clip showed her walking through a park and giving a thumbs up while the song played in the background.
Ashley Biden married her husband in 2012 in Wilmington, Delaware, in a ceremony attended by family members, friends and those close to the Biden family.
At the time, Joe Biden was serving as vice president under President Barack Obama.
The wedding was a high-profile family event that drew public interest.
Speaking to People magazine ahead of the ceremony, then–Vice President Biden described his preparations for the wedding.
