Former President Barack Obama posted a scathing, fearmongering statement Thursday morning on the passage by the House of President Donald Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’
The reconciliation bill that contains items to reduce taxes, reform Medicaid, fund border control and mass deportations among a host of other legislative fixes passed the Republican-controlled House by one vote early Thursday after a late night session and now goes to the Republican-controlled Senate with an eye to getting the bill to Trump for his signature by Independence Day, July 4th.
Obama’s statement:
Right now, Republicans in Congress are trying to push through a bill that would put millions of Americans at risk of losing their health care.
They want to cut federal funding for Medicaid, take away tax credits that help more people afford coverage, and raise costs for working class families.
That means some of the most vulnerable Americans – families, the elderly, folks with disabilities – won’t be able to get the lifesaving treatment, medication, or care they need.
