AstraZeneca has admitted in court for the first time that its Covid vaccine can cause a deadly blood clotting side effect. The rare reaction, known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), is at the center of a multi-million-pound class action by families who claim they were harmed by the vaccine.
AstraZeneca’s acknowledgment could lead to individual payouts for those affected. The company had previously denied that TTS could be caused by its vaccine. The admission comes as AstraZeneca reported a revenue exceeding £10 billion in the first quarter of 2024.
