Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has launched a legal defense fund as he faces a federal investigation into alleged mortgage fraud and renewed attacks from President Donald Trump.
The “Senator Schiff Legal Defense Fund” was filed with the IRS last Thursday. Schiff’s team says the fund is necessary to fight what they call politically motivated charges.
“It’s clear that Donald Trump and his MAGA allies will continue weaponizing the justice process to attack Senator Schiff for holding this corrupt administration accountable,” a spokeswoman for Schiff told Fox News.

Trump, speaking at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday, again accused Schiff of fabricating the Trump–Russia collusion narrative.
“Russia, Russia, Russia. Totally phony, created by Adam Schiff, Shifty Schiff, and Hillary Clinton and the whole group of them,” Trump said. He argued the narrative harmed U.S. foreign policy, saying, “It made it very dangerous for our country because I was unable to really deal with Russia the way we should have been.”
White House spokesman Harrison Fields went further, calling Schiff a “fraud” and “sleazy and corrupt politician.”
