A longtime Democratic intelligence staffer on the House Intelligence Committee warned the FBI in 2017 that Rep. Adam Schiff, now a California senator, approved leaking classified information to harm President Donald Trump during the Russiagate probe.
FBI memos recently obtained by Congress through Director Kash Patel detail claims that Schiff directed illegal leaks for political gain.
The whistleblower, a Democrat connected to both Schiff and former Republican committee chairman Devin Nunes, described the leaks as “unethical,” “illegal” and “treasonous.”
Schiff reportedly assured staff he was protected by the Constitution’s speech and debate clause, but no formal legal opinion confirms such immunity applies to the leaks.
FBI 302 documents reviewed by Just the News show the whistleblower attended a staff meeting where Schiff allegedly said the group would release damaging classified information to indict Trump.
Although concerned about legality, the whistleblower was told others would avoid repercussions.
The whistleblower raised these concerns repeatedly from 2017 through 2023. Despite multiple interviews, the Department of Justice (DOJ) declined prosecution, citing legislative immunity.
Some officials who rejected charges still hold influential DOJ positions.
