Actor Who Played JD Vance In 'Hillbilly Elegy' Refuses To Disavow The Role: 'He's A Cool Guy' – EVOL

Prior to his entry into politics, Vice President JD Vance was known as the author of the bestselling book “Hillbilly Elegy.”

The 2016 memoir became a film four years later, starring Gabriel Basso as the author.

Since then, Vance was elected to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate and took the oath of office to serve as President Donald Trump’s vice president earlier this month.

An AP reporter caught up with Basso and asked if he had “any regrets” in retrospect, and the actor bucked Hollywood’s tendency to instinctively trash conservatives.

As Breitbart reported:

“That’s a wild historical thing that I’ve now done,” Basso laughed, to which the Associated Press asked, “Any regrets?”

“No,” the actor replied. “I mean, at the time, he wasn’t even in politics.”

“It’d be like asking somebody, ‘Do you regret being a friend to whoever in middle school?’ It’s like, you just knew them, and you worked with them and you were a part of their life and everything,” he added.
