81-Year-Old GOP Congresswoman Falls on the Staircases at US Capitol Following Speaker Vote – EVOL

Yet another disturbing incident involving one of America’s federally elected officials happened today after Mike Johnson was elected House Speaker on Friday.

81-year-old Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) had just finished voting to help elect Johnson when disaster struck. Fox News revealed that she fell on the grand staircases on the GOP side of the Capitol. PBS Newshour Correspondent Lisa Desjardins revealed Capitol Police soon swarmed the scene to attend to the elderly member of Congress.

NOW: House officials, Capitol Hill Police around Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-NC, tending to her.

I am told by a witness she fell on the marble stairs outside chamber.

A bleeding Rep. Virginia Foxx is currently receiving medical attention – holding her nose as she receives aid – appears to have fallen down marble stairs on West side of House. Lots of blood but officer tells me she’s okay as press is cleared from area. She is conscious/ talking.

Fox News reported Foxx had to be guided by medical attendants to the Capitol physicians office after falling.
