Five individuals have been charged in connection with a violent mob assault in downtown Cincinnati over the weekend that left a man and woman unconscious. The incident was captured on video and quickly went viral, prompting outrage nationwide.
Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge announced the charges during a Monday press conference but said names are being withheld as the investigation continues. Authorities are still working to identify at least eight more suspects, with police describing the attack as a “sudden dispute” that escalated following a verbal altercation.
100 Witnesses, 1 Call to 911
According to Chief Theetge, approximately 100 people were present — either participating, filming, or watching the brawl — but only one person called 911.
“That is unacceptable,” Theetge said. “They were fighting in front of traffic. Why didn’t people call us?”
By the time police arrived, the violent assault was already over.
