Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) faced another embarrassing moment during a Monday press conference when cameras captured him speaking beneath a towering Trump sign while attempting to criticize the president’s crime-fighting proposals for Chicago.
The Democratic governor held the press conference in downtown Chicago to respond to Doanld Trump’s suggestion that the city might receive federal assistance to combat rising crime rates, similar to what Washington, D.C., could see.
During the event, Pritzker told reporters, “I know that I live rent-free in the president’s head.”
He continued, “And I wish he would spend some time in Chicago, so that he could see what a lovely city we have.” However, as cameras panned upward during his remarks, they revealed the massive “Trump” sign displayed prominently on Chicago’s Trump International Hotel and Tower directly above the governor’s location.
Eric Daugherty from Florida’s Voice website shared footage of the incident on social media platform X, where it quickly gained attention from users who noted the visual contradiction.
The press conference occurred after Trump suggested on Monday that he might deploy federalized National Guard troops to Chicago to strengthen law enforcement efforts in what he described as a “killing field,” according to Politico reporting.
