More than 30 people were injured early Saturday morning after a driver plowed into a crowd outside a nightclub in East Hollywood, Los Angeles. The incident, which also involved gunfire, is now the subject of a major police investigation.
What We Know
According to reports on Civilian and confirmed by the Associated Press, a Nissan Versa crashed into a line of clubgoers—mostly women—waiting outside a venue on Santa Monica Boulevard around 2 a.m.
The car also struck a taco truck and a valet stand before slamming into the crowd.
“It was not immediately clear if the driver had been shot before or after the crash or why he drove into the crowd,” said an LAPD spokesperson.
Driver Shot and Beaten
The driver was attacked and shot by people at the scene, according to the AP. His identity and current condition have not been released.
Paramedics later discovered that one patient had a gunshot wound, though it remains unknown if that individual was the driver or a bystander.
