Trump Announces US Will Send Patriot Missiles to Ukraine – EVOL

President Donald Trump confirmed Sunday that the United States will send Patriot missile systems to Ukraine — but only under a deal in which European allies pay 100% of the costs.

Speaking to reporters ahead of a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Washington, Trump emphasized that Ukraine will receive the advanced missile defense systems through a NATO-mediated arrangement in which the U.S. supplies weapons, but does not foot the bill.

“We basically are going to send them various pieces of very sophisticated military. And they are going to pay us 100 percent for them. And that’s the way we want it,” Trump said.

New NATO Deal

Trump said the weapons would go through NATO and then be delivered to Ukraine, with NATO covering the cost.

“What we’re doing is the weapons that are going out are going to NATO, and then NATO is going to be giving those weapons [to Ukraine], and NATO is paying for those weapons.”
