Illegal immigration, espionage, as well as other activities happening inside the US linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have skyrocketed under the Biden-Harris administration, according to a new report drafted by the House Committee on Homeland Security.
The “China Threat Snapshot” report outlined the recent uptick in espionage as well as acts of transnational repression and illegal immigration happening on US soil linked to the CCP under the current administration. Over 55 CCP-related cases of espionage have been reported in a combined 20 US states over the course of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ tenure. The report notes that between 2000 and 2023, a total of 224 cases have been reported. FBI Director Christopher Wray has also testified that the FBI opens a new case countering CCP intelligence every 12 hours.
The report stated, “Cases of Chinese espionage throughout the US have expanded rapidly with Chinese nationals and non-Chinese individuals acting on behalf of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) allegedly committing a variety of forms of espionage including but not limited to, government, military, and economic espionage.” Some notable cases in the report included that a former professor at two US universities was sentenced to 37
