A tragic act of violence occurred early this morning on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Witnesses reported that a man drove a truck into a crowded area, bringing it to a stop before exiting the vehicle and opening fire on the crowd. The attack has left at least 10 people dead and 31 injured, including two police officers.
Governor Jeff Landry took to social media to address the incident, urging people to pray for the victims and avoid the area.
“A horrific act of violence took place on Bourbon Street earlier this morning. Please join Sharon and me in praying for all the victims and first responders on the scene. I urge all near the scene to avoid the area.”
