Ukraine Receives Extra $3 Billion in Taxpayer Cash Due to Pentagon ‘Accounting Error’

The U.S. federal government is sending Ukraine an additional $3 billion in taxpayer cash and weapons due to a Pentagon “accounting error.

The Pentagon has overestimated the value of the weapons it has sent to Ukraine by at least $3 billion.

The “accounting error” will allow the Defense Department to send more weapons to Ukraine without asking Congress for more money.

The acknowledgment comes as the Pentagon is under increased pressure from Congress to show accountability for the billions of dollars it has already sent.

Lawmakers question whether that level of support should continue as cash, weapons, ammunition, and equipment flow to Ukraine.

It also could free up more money for critical weapons as Ukraine is on the verge of a much-anticipated counteroffensive.

The counteroffensive will require as much military aid as they can get.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously said the offensive was delayed because they did not yet have everything they needed.
