On Thursday, the defense team of former President Donald Trump filed a new motion, revealing that the former president intends to present classified information revealing foreign interference in both the 2016 and 2020 U.S. Presidential elections.
This move comes amid a heated legal battle overseen by Judge Tanya Chutkan and led by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Back in August, Trump faced four charges in Jack Smith’s controversial January 6 case in Washington, D.C.: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
“From on or about November 14, 2020, through on or about January 20, 2021, in the District of Columbia and elsewhere, the Defendant, DONALD J. TRUMP, did knowingly combine, conspire, confederate, and agree with co-conspirators, known and unknown to the Grand Jury, to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate one or more persons in the free exercise and enjoyment of a right and privilege secured to them by the Constitution and laws of the United States —that is, the right to vote, and to have one’s vote counted,” according to the indictment.
