Failed Democrat vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has claimed that President Donald Trump’s order to shut down the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has given the green light to schools to bring back racial segregation.
On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order directing Education Secretary Linda McMahon to begin shutting down the agency she heads.
Trump’s order fulfills a campaign promise and comes seven days after the DOE announced on March 13 that it had slashed its workforce by almost 50%.
The cuts were made through voluntary buyouts and layoffs.
Walz told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow that Trump fulfilled a “longtime dream” of conservatives.
During his almost two-minute rant, Walz went completely unchecked by Maddow, who didn’t ask for any evidence to support his wild claims.
As he ranted about Trump’s order, Walz even invoked his son on the autism spectrum.
“Well, we knew it was coming, but it’s still a day that I dreaded,” Walz claimed.
“I dreaded it as a teacher, as a parent, certainly as a governor now, and the sad part for me about this is, is Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about education.
