As previously reported, on Thursday night House Republicans united and passed a critical stand-alone bill to aid Israel in combating Hamas following the October 7th attack. Subsequently, some Democrats were deeply upset, even to the point of shedding tears.
In order to cover the costs of this aid package, the GOP withdrew funding from Joe Biden’s ironically titled 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, focusing on Section 10301, which appropriated additional resources for the IRS. This included finances designated for hiring 87,000 new agents tasked with pressuring working-class Americans about their tax obligations.
The bill received approval through a vote of 226 in favor and 196 against. 12 Democrats crossed party lines to cast their votes in favor of the measure, while two Republicans chose to oppose it.
This represented a crucial initial examination of the leadership of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), and he aced it. As an added bonus, his success in the vote left liberals in tears.
Semafor’s Kadia Goba disclosed that at least two Democrats were found shedding tears like babies. They complained that Johnson was playing dirty politics by funding aid to Israel while also slashing funding to arguably the worst agency in America, the IRS.
