Obamas Congratulate Trump on Presidential Win – EVOL

Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle said they are proud of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Former President Barack Obama and his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, on Nov. 6 congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Now the results are in, and we want to congratulate President Trump and Senator Vance on their victory,” the Obamas said in a social media post, referring to Trump and his running mate Vice President-elect JD Vance.Both Barack Obama and Michelle Obama campaigned for Harris. Barack Obama told a crowd on Oct. 19 that Harris “is a leader who has spent her entire life fighting on behalf of people who need a champion.”

In Wednesday’s statement, the former president and first lady said that Trump’s win “is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for, given our profound disagreements with the Republican ticket on a whole host of issues.”

“But,” they added, “living in a democracy is about recognizing that our point of view won’t always win out, and being willing to accept the peaceful transfer of power.”
