Democrat Senator John Fetterman questioned the US House of Representative’s decision to expel Rep. George Santos (R-NY) from Congress on Friday while other members of Congress who have committed significantly more “sinister” and “serious” acts are permitted to remain in office.
While appearing on ABC’s The View, Fetterman specifically called out Democrat Senator Bob Menendez who he accused of serving the people of Egypt, not New Jersey. Menendez was federally indicted on bribery charges in September.
“What’s your reaction to the expulsion?” asked Joy Behar.
“I’m not surprised,” Fetterman said. “But to me, I think the more important picture is that we have a colleague in the Senate that has actually done much more sinister and serious kinds of things. Senator Menendez. He needs to go.”
“If you are going to expel Santos, how can you allow to somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate?” Fetterman questioned.
The Philadelphia Senator proceeded to claim that Santos’ history of lies “were almost, you know, funny” like he “landed on the moon and that kind of stuff.” Whereas Sen. Menendez, according to Fetterman, “is really a Senator for Egypt.”
