House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) have placed Hunter Biden and the wayward son of President Joe Biden on notice, his testimony will be on their terms, not his.
As reported by The Hill, Biden has pushed for a public hearing, likely to provide a national platform for him to appeal to the court of public opinion via a highly sympathetic establishment media. Conversely, in a letter to his legal team, the committees wrote that the younger Biden had affirmed his availability for the deposition they have demanded by subpoena. The letter from the committee chairs came after Biden’s legal team sent their own missive stating that he is only willing to testify in public and not a closed-door deposition.
The two chairmen wrote,”We appreciate your confirmation that Mr. Biden is available and willing to testify on December 13,” according to The Hill.
They explained,
“This testimony will occur initially in a deposition setting, as has been the consistent practice of Committees of the House of Representatives in recent Congresses—during both Republican and Democrat majorities—as well as these Committees during this inquiry.
